PDF Print Software
PDF print software products like
Adobe JobReady and Ghostscript offer clients the ability to provide a convenient
range of online services to customers. Yet, for all their merits, they have severe
limitations, especially for small business owners.
The drivers that power PDF print software perform a number of vital functions:
- They ensure fonts are properly embedded
- They lock colors so they render correctly
- They preserve formatting and borders
However, these products as provided by major manufacturers like Adobe, don't allow
for much customization by the end user. For example, some clients prefer certain
conversion programs, such as Distiller, but can't alter their PDF print software
to be able to use them. When updates for the PDF conversion software become available
from the manufacturer, clients have to uninstall the old program and reinstall the
new one. The client's customers also have to update their online links to the service
provider's equipment.
Perhaps most daunting, especially for small business owners, is the cost of these
drivers. Adobe, for example, levies tens of thousands of dollars in initial fees,
then charges a monthly premium for service. In fact, currently only 10 percent of
print shops have the cash to invest in these drivers--typically the large chains.
This leaves neighborhood shops out of luck, until now.
Cutting the Cost of PDF Print Software
GoPrint2.com has developed a user-friendly, affordable
and easily customizable driver that allows clients to use the conversion program
of their choice and pay on a per-use basis. The initial download and installation
is free, and can be completed in mere minutes online.
